San Diego

Pacific Trip 2004

From San Diego…

Monday

We got to San Diego Sunday night. Monday was very busy. We got up and went on the Old Town Trolley Tour, where we saw a lot of popular places here. We also got off the trolley and went to the Maritime Museum, which was really neat. We went to Coronado Island and ate at the Brigantine and saw Hotel Del Coronado, Horton Plaza, Seaport Village, and much more. We took the Hornblower Yacht Cruise and then that night, we went to a Padres game at Petco Park!

Tuesday

Tuesday we moved from the Quality Suites that is in the touristy part of town to a Quality Suites on Mira Mesa Blvd., which is closer to Acucorp, where Rob is on business. We also drove up the coast. We went through La Jolla and walked around and ate at the Crab Catcher. We stopped and walked along the beach in Oceanside for awhile. We finally ended up in L.A. We enjoyed Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We didn’t get back till really late, because we were stopped by the highway being CLOSED. So instead of getting back at 10 pm, we got back a little after 12.

Wednesday

While Rob worked, I enjoyed myself, by shopping and hanging out at the hotel. I actually spent a great bit of time trying to prepare some stuff for my new job! If I do a little here and a little there, I won’t have as much to do when I go back, July 26. Rob had to go to work Wednesday, since part of this trip is business for him. I met him up for lunch and we ate at Mimi’s Cafe with the people from AcuCorp. Then, we headed over to Seaport Village. For dinner we ate at On The Border.

Thursday

When Rob got back from working we headed over to Torrey Pines National Park which was real nice. After that we went to University Town Center Mall, where we walked around and ate dinner. I had Rubio’s Baha Grill and Rob had chinese from the food court (can’t remember what it was called).

Friday

I checked out of the hotel in San Diego and had to keep busy until Rob got finished working. I went to the University Town Center Mall and did some shopping. I ate lunch at island’s. Then, I went and sat in a really pretty place, which happen to be right in front of the Edward’s Movie Theater and called Ms. Lewis, who had called earlier.

In the evening we left to go to Portland, OR for a wedding and some sightseeing.

From Portland…

Saturday

We went to Kent & Colbie’s wedding and reception. We stayed at the Phoenix Inn, which is where we stayed when we were here in ’99. We ate lunch at Chang’s Mongolian Grill yesterday. That is a great place and we couldn’t wait to eat there!!

Sunday

We headed to the coast where we went to Cannon Beach and saw Haystack Rock. It is such a pretty place! We ate at the Wayfarer. We drove through Seaside and Astoria. We headed back to Beaverton, stopped at McMenamin’s. Then, we met Paul and Vickie at Stanford’s for dinner. Some how we made room for desert and we headed over to the Tillamook ice Cream Shop. YUM!

Monday

We went to Mount St. Helens. We tried to go there in 99, but roads were closed. I was very happy to get to go there this time. We stopped at the Johnston Observatory and the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center. It was very cloudy and cold. The clouds lifted for a bit. Although, I never could see the top of the mountain. Then, we headed to downtown Portland and walked around and ended up eating at La Terraza. We drove around and looked at some neighborhoods in Beaverton and then headed back and we watched TV.

Tuesday

We left. I was sad and happy at the same time. I was ready to get home to my boys and start the summer with them. I was also stressed about moving out of my room at my old school and moving all that stuff to my new school!
