July 2005
Jackson, MS – Cedar Creek Lake, TX – Fort Worth – San Antonio – Houston
Family visit, Fun, Leisure, Site-seeing
We had a wonderful trip to Texas.
Thursday – June 30
We left at 1:00 and drove to Jackson, MS. We went to see the Mississippi Braves – AA minor league team and we stayed at the Comfort Inn.
Friday – July 1
We got up and grabbed some breakfast and then drove to
Cedar Creek Lake and stayed with my Uncle and Aunt. This has become a 4th of July tradition, which we really enjoy!
Saturday – July 2
We got up early and drove over to Ski ‘N Scats to pick up my cousins from camp and watched the ski show until the weather got bad and started lightning. As we were driving back, we felt like space invaders trying to be struck by a constant shower of lighning bolts!
Sunday – July 3
We went out on the boat and enjoyed being with my uncle and his family. A-man went on the Big Mama tube! Later in the evening, we drove to Fort Worth to stay with my grandmother.
Monday – July 4
We spent the day at my Granny’s house. We had a good time with my mom, my sister, and my Aunt Janet, who cut T-baby’s hair, A-man’s hair, and my hair. We took lots of pics afterwards. For dinner we went to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.
Tuesday – July 5
We spent the day at my Grandmother’s house. We ate at an Italian Restaurant that is housed in the building were I worked growing up. It was then a Braum’s.
Wednesday – July 6
We got up and loaded the car and headed south. We made a stop in
The Town of West, Texas, where we went to
Czech Stop and got some
Kolaches for breakfast! Then, when we got to Waco we drove around the campus of Baylor University and then found
Dr. Pepper Museum, where we walked around. These stops were nice to help break up the trip. After that we hopped back in the car and didn’t stop until we got to Austin where we drove around and saw University of Texas and The Texas Capitol. We finally got to San Antonio where we checked in to the Clarion Hotel and went for a walk on the River Walk. We ate at Rita’s on the River. Then we headed over to River Center Mall and then to The Alamo!
Thursday – July 7
We spent the day at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, TX and ate dinner at
TGI Friday’s.
Friday – July 8
We checked out of the hotel and went back to The Alamo. It was very crowded so we didn’t stay long. We ate lunch and then drove to Houston to see Rob’s Dad and Step Mom.
Saturday – July 9
We went to the Astro’s game at Minute Maid Park. Pam cooked grilled shrimp dinner, which was so awesome! I got the recipe!! 🙂
Sunday – July 10
We went to church with Rob’s dad and step mom ate at Kan’s Mongolian BBQ. Later on we celebrated Rob’s birthday with a great dinner that Pam made and a cake!
Monday – July 11
Made the 12 hour drive home. We ended up having to cut up in Mississippi due to all the Hurricane evacuee traffic! We made it home safely, but were sad to see we lost another tree. I guess due to the heavy rains and wind.
